Caregiver Support and Information for Marquette County

Marquette County Dept. of Human Services:

  • Alzheimer’s Family Caregiver Support Program (AFCSP): Services provided include: information, referrals, education, service coordination, counseling and support groups, legal assistance on guardianship, respite services, adaptive equipment, transportation arrangements, safety evaluation, and funds for purchasing good and services. They may also assist with arranging supportive homecare, homemaker & chore services, and assist with placement in an Adult Family Home, CBRF, or Nursing home.
  • Powerful Tools for Caregivers: an educational program designed to help caregivers balance selfcare and care of a relative or friend. Participants will learn how to: reduce stress, improve self-confidence, communicate feelings, increase ability to make tough decisions, and locate resources. Class meets once a week for six weeks. Some online classes are being offered throughout the state.
  • National Family Caregiver Support Program (NFCSP): provides support services to family caregivers. Availability for those taking care of an adult 60+, with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s / dementia, or those caring for children or disabled relatives. Qualifications are based on circumstance. Services may include information and referrals, education, connection and coordination of services, counseling, respite, personal care, homemaker and chore services, adaptive equipment, and home safety evaluations.
  • Marquette County Dementia Care Specialist Caregiver Support Group: Meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 2-3:30 PM at the Marquette County Human Services Center (428 Underwood Avenue, Montello). Virtual Meetings are held on the 4th Monday of each month from 5:00 PM- 6:30PM. Registration is required. Please Contact Janet to register at (608) 297-3148
