Caregiver Support and Information for Marquette County
Marquette County Dept. of Human Services:
- Alzheimer’s Family Caregiver Support Program (AFCSP): Services provided include: information, referrals, education, service coordination, counseling and support groups, legal assistance on guardianship, respite services, adaptive equipment, transportation arrangements, safety evaluation, and funds for purchasing good and services. They may also assist with arranging supportive homecare, homemaker & chore services, and assist with placement in an Adult Family Home, CBRF, or Nursing home.
- Powerful Tools for Caregivers: an educational program designed to help caregivers balance selfcare and care of a relative or friend. Participants will learn how to: reduce stress, improve self-confidence, communicate feelings, increase ability to make tough decisions, and locate resources. Class meets once a week for six weeks. Class is free, caregiver help book is $20.
- National Family Caregiver Support Program (NFCSP): provides support services to family caregivers. Availability for those taking care of an adult 60+, with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s / dementia, or those caring for children or disabled relatives. Qualifications are based on circumstance. Services may include information and referrals, education, connection and coordination of services, counseling, respite, personal care, homemaker and chore services, adaptive equipment, and home safety evaluations.
- Marquette County Caregiver Support Group: held the 3rd Wednesday of every month from 12 – 2pm at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (277 E Montello Street, Montello)
